What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas
Does a taxpayer have a right to a copy of the supporting documents that prove the accuracy of income reported to the IRS on form 1099-misc.

I disagree with the amount of income reported by a company to the IRS. Do I have a legal right to documented proof that the amount reported was dispursed to me?

You can certainly ask the payer to provide you proof that the amount is correct. However, the only way to force them to provide you proof (if they don't cooperate) is within the context of a lawsuit.

You can claim the amount you think you got paid and the burden of proof is on the payor to prove the amount then. You will have an IRS notice to deal with though.
