What is the name of your state? IL

Last December a friend of mine and I were arrested for retail theft. We received civil demands in the mail have made payments on them. We had our court date a month later and the judge told us it was a no charge but that they still had a year to press charges if they wanted to.

Now it's two months later and my friend has received a summons in the mail saying he is being charged. Does anyone know why they would wait to charge him? Any information on things like this would be appreciated.

The store finally sent in the information the police needed to complete their investigation so the prosecutor could charge your friend. don't worry, you will be next.

Do you only get your bail money back when a case is finished? I received mine about two weeks after we got the no charge but my friend did not. Thanks for the help.

They had a year so there does not appear to be a wait.
