reverse religious descrimination ?

I'm employed by a small company, 1 owner-dba. and 2 employees. The owner is a radical born again christian. He demands we listen to christian radio daily, including the sermons. when we've asked to change the station, the answer is flat out no... our alternative is christian music cds. I can no longer tolerate the christian music, and have bought a personal music device. however, i'm afraid i'll get fired for using it. I like my job, and also need it, but I'm ready to quit......can anyone help me with information about my rights.

First of all, there's no such thing as reverse discrimination. Either it's discrimination or it's not.

Under both Federal and Massachusetts law, your company is too small to fall under discrimination laws. That being the case, the owner of your company is free to insist on his music being played. Hopefully he'll allow you to listen to something else with your earphones on, but if he doesn't, your choices are to listen to his selections or find another job.

P.S. I sympathize; although I am a Christian myself I find a great deal of "Christian music" to be pretty pathetic.

sorry man, i'm not buying into the fact that just because i work for a small company i have no legal protection/rights....that flat out doesn't make any sense. I've been looking for something in the employment laws, but all i find is protection to practice religion..nothing to protect me from it.

are there any lawers out there????????

No one here cares whether or not you "BUY IT". Grow up. You've been told point blank you have only two options: 1. bring something to work to drown out the music or; 2. find another job.

Otherwise, you're on your own.

well, i guess you didnt read the post too well, there is the possibility i may get fired for listening to "other than christian music" herein lies my concern... would this be discrimination.

At the state level, employers with less than 6 employees are exempt from discrimination laws.
