What is the name of your state? Iowa
I'm doing research on criminal law, and types of search warrants in the state of Iowa. If someone is pulled over, and police find drugs in their vehicle, ..I know that they can obtain something called a "roll back search warrant" (not sure if that's what it's called) which enables police to go back to the persons residence and conduct a search of their home in efforts to look for more drugs. Does anyone know exactly what this procedure is called? When would such a procedure be deemed as necessary? Any information would be appreciated.
Also, if a person is pulled over and doesn't give the consent to search their vehicle, can the officer then issue the person a citation (example: for tinted windows, or seat belt), and under Iowa state law would the issuance of that citation then give the officer a probable cause to search the vehicle?
Please advise.
Thanxs!
