What is the name of your state?:confused: I live/work in Minnesota. I am currently being paid a salary twice a month, same amount each time. However, if I miss an hour or two of work for personal, sick or vacation time they take that hour or two out of my accrued personal, sick or vacation time...whichever is appropriate. I was under the impression that Salaried employees can only have their sick, personal and vacation time taken when it is a full day of work that is missed. In that respect, they are treating my time as hourly. To me, this doesn't seem right. I don't care if I am salaried or hourly, but I would like my time off to coordinate accordingly. Any advise would be much appreciated.

I was under the impression that Salaried employees can only have their sick, personal and vacation time taken when it is a full day of work that is missed. You are confusing deducting pay from your check with deducting time from your paid time off banks.

Other than absence time attributed to the FMLA, pay deductions for exempts may only be made in full-day increments. Your employer is free to deduct time from your vacation, sick, and paid personal time benefits they offer in whatever increments they wish.

I believe CA is the only State with restrictions on deductions from an employee's paid time benefits.
