i have been at a job for close to 2yrs now and only received 1 raise, should i have gotten more by now. and do a small company have to give you a raise every six month to a year...

An employer is under no obligation to give raises.

Unless you have a bona fide, enforceable contract that guarantees you raises at specific times, a small company has no legal obligation to EVER give you a raise, let alone one every six months to a year. Neither does a middle-sized company, nor yet a large company. The ONLY time an employer is required by law to give you a raise is if you are working at precisely minimum wage, and minimum wage is raised by either your state legislature or an act of Congress.

This is strictly a matter between you and your employer.
