What is the name of your state? AZ

Can different agents from the same insurance company give different rates for the same coverage?

Yes.

The agents may be using differnet info to calculate the rates and may have different discounts available to them. Also are they employees or independent agents? There is no law saying that two quotes from randomly selected company reps must be identical in all circumstances.

Thanks for your reply. They are two independent agents. I gave them the same info. My renewal came in the mail today and it increased $130. I went on the Internet to get some other quotes. I got a quote from a different agent with the same company I'm with now for about half of what my renewal is. I will call tomorrow to see if I am being low balled. I just figured that since they are from the same company that they would have the same underwriters and that there wouldn't be that much of a difference.

A lot of companies are now restructing their underwriting guidelines and offering more discounts depending on driving records, claims and most importantly your insurance financial score. You are probably in the "old" company and you are getting the "new" companies rates. Once it did not pay to shop around cause it all "came out in the wash" but today's market is changing and it might pay to go to a new company.

Yes, you may be grandfathered into an old rate revision. The agents may be quoting different plans, too. I know that you think they are the same, but did you verify that they are the exact same type of policy (one may be replacement while the other is ACV), have the same deductible, coverages, and riders?
