What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
I am a high school senior and I will be going to college for the first time this coming fall. I have been searching the web endlessly for scholarships to help defray the cost of tuition. However, I have come to find that scholarships are few and far between for white girls. Almost every single scholarship that I have found requires the applicants to be black, hispanic, or of some other minority. Now, correct me if i'm wrong, but this seems to be like discrimination to me. It is against everything that affirmative action stands for. Is there anything that I can do about this? All I am trying to do is help pay my way through college, and get a few scholarships. There is no reason why black people should be able to receive a scholarship but white people can't. I have yet to come across any scholarship that says "this scholarship is for white americans" and that is because they don't exist. Please help me if you know of any scholarships out there that I could apply for, or if there is anything legally that I can do.
Also, is there anything illegal being done if I simply check off the box that says "African American" on scholarship applications? After all, there is nothing that legally says if a person is white, black or anything else, is there?
