What is the name of your state? -- Ohio, But I lived in Indiana is where the security deposit issue is an issue. And yes I gave my forwarding address and phone number. I have waited the 45 days, wrote a demand letter for the security deposit and have received nothing. I know I am not the only previous tenant of this company(which is in Oregon) to have this problem of not receiving security deposit returned. The 3 property managers they have ran through didn't get their payments for their services. I was wondering would we (previous tenants & property mangers)as a collective group be able to do a class action suit against this company for causing so many folks personal damages and to get our money back from our security deposits? And can the better business do anything to this company for us for being such a lousy landlord--they never do the repairs needed--I went without heat for 2 days? Thank you for reading, your time and any input.

The Better Business Bureau is highly overrated when it comes to problems with a business. They can attempt to get a landlord and tenant, for example, together to mediate the problem, but they can't force them to meet, and they can't force either side to do anything they don't want to do.

You can file a complaint with the BBB for other people to read before they rent from that landlord, but most people don't think to do that kind of research. And they have no way of knowing that a bad tenant didn't use the BBB complaint system to get back at a landlord who, for example, had just cause to evict them.

Did you send your demand for the return of your full security deposit in writing via certified mail, return receipt requested? Did you send your request for repairs in writing via certified mail, return receipt requested?

security deposit

Yes, I sent the demand letter certified mail, but as for a demand repair letter--no didn't send one of those. Has been well over 45 days since vacanting and end of lease. Isn't that their responsibility to send the list and final amount if they had anything more than normal wear and tear(which their @ the time property manager gave me a signed letter stating there was only normal wear and tear according to the terms of my lease--I met all requirements/fullfilled)
