My girlfriend moved out of her apartment two months ago, and has just received a letter from her landlords' attorney saying that they are claiming her security deposit under chapter 7 bankruptcy (in the state of Pennsylvania). It seems that a security deposit should never have been spent in the first place, unless it was to repair something damaged in the apartment. Also, her downstairs neighbors DID receive their security deposit back (they moved out at the same time) and there is currently somebody renting the old place. Is there any way for us to get her deposit back?
