What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? california- my ex is self-employed and works construction. how does his income get calculated? do they go off of taxes only. working construction he gets paid cash often and can hide much of his income. does the court take this into account? do they look at what he is able to make or do they look at what he actually makes? thank you for the info.

In most cases a self employed person would be asked to show a current profit and loss statement. 3 years of past tax returns, and bank statements etc...

Any respectable parent will be honest in regards to CP (are you the CP?).
And support their child.

No unfortunately he is not a respectable parent. He has been very abusive and ruthlessly cruel to me. No one currently pays child support at the moment as per the court order. He is supposed to pay half of medical bills but doesn't and his mom pays his half of daycare. he gets very upset everytime i bring up any money he owes. So I am worried that when we go back to court...He will go after me for child support to be vindictive. i work as a teacher...so I have pay stubs... but if he hides his... He could make it look like i make more... so I'm not sure what to do about that. I'm barely getting by right now. I am primary custodial parent. We are not together. He is remarried with another kid on the way.
