What is the name of your state? VA

Question for the Copyright/TM guru. I was walking through the mall today with my wife and was helping her pick out a purse for my company XMas party (yes I know it sounds like tons of fun!) In any case I have noticed in a lot of the stores within the mall the Coach, Dooney & Burke, Gucci and etc... look-a-likes. Is this legal? I was under the impression that even if the design of something wasn't exactly the same, if it resembled a TM/Copyright close enough then it was infringement...

I'm really just curious as I see these stores all over so it must be legal, but a clearer understanding of why would be great.

Of course it is legal!! Those money-hungry company's that spend millions of dollars developing their business name and client base have no rights or business trying to protect them from cheap, knock-off imports that are usually made in child labor 'camps' in China, snuck into the US and sold by unscrupulous sales drones!!

JETX, does that mean that the Presidential gold and diamond studded Rulex watch I got you for Christmas is legal?

Hopefully it's nicer than the Chinatown special "Folex" I got last last year.
