What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Federal

There is a lot of talk going around right now about sequestration. I don't understand it completely but the jist I get is that effective March 1 there will be mandated budget cuts for many Federal agencies (and the countless government contractors who work for them). There seems to be a general consensus that many employees will have to take unpaid time off, and will not be able to use paid leave for this missed time.

If they stretch the unpaid leave requirement over the rest of the year (say, making people take 1 day off unpaid a week until the end of the fiscal year) how will this work with the FLSA? Don't you have to pay an exempt employee for the full week if they worked for any time during the week? I know there are exceptions, but I looked over the list and none seem to apply. Would it be legal to pay a salaried exempt employee 4/5th of their weekly salary because they missed a day due to the sequester?
