What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania. A new home development is being built adjacent to our property. The owner came by my house asking to go 15 feet onto our property to connect to a manhole. This entails clearing the woods for the line down a hill (his property) which we look at out of our backyard. Besides being unsightly, I wonder if this would have an impact on our drainage system. If we say 'no' can he find a way to still do this? Also, would we be able to ask for monetary compensation, and what would be a 'normal' amount? Any advice appreciated. L.R.

Have you checked your deed for easements? Does he have another way to connect to the main sewer line? You may also check and see if there are any environmental considerations since he would be clearing woods which may be protected and clearing woods may also affect your drainage, so you might need to consult a RE attorney who should be able to answer all your questions.

**A: it appears an easement agreement would be needed and such an agreement should cover use, applicable laws, restoration etc. And at a cost.

Will check our deed for easements. He has other places that he can connect to, but they will be more difficult, and the Township has told us that they would prefer if he could connect to ours. Let you know what else I find out, Thanks, L.
