What's considered the minimum number of days for residency? I know couple weeks is too short but I spend 35, 45 and 90 days during school breaks, are these considered to fulfill the 730 days (2year) rule ?

You're home residency requirement doesn't begin until after your J-1 study is over. You can't bank time in advance, if that is what you are asking. Once you finish your J-1 program, then you must have an aggregate two years of residency IN YOUR HOME COUNTRY (just being out of the US is not sufficient). You are allowed to travel (even to the US) during this time period, but the time you are not in your home country will not count.

I know that. I did one year in 2012 and now I'm on F1 visa. After finishing the J1 program, I went to my country 3 times (90 days, 35 days, and 45 days), would they count or the stays are too short to be counted?
