I have silicone breast implants that were implanted in 1978.
I registered for the class action implant litigation on time even though I had no problems at that time. 5 years ago my right implant felt like it "pulled away from my chest wall". I told my doctor at that time, he found no problem. I have had several mammograms and at least two chest MRI's (for different reasons) since then and was never informed of a problem. This past year I have been diagnosed with MS ( without conclusive test results to prove it). Now a doctor at the Mayo clinic called and said I need immediate surgery to have my right ruptured implant out because there is massive amounts of free silicone in my thoracic area. What are my legal options at this time? I'm angry because at least three doctors have "blown me off" when I asked them if my "displaced" silicone implant could have been causing any of my problems. This stuff has been leaking into my body for five years and now there are days when I am totally bed ridden with my illness. What (other than have the implants taken out, which I'm going to do) should my next step be? Do I have any recourse?

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Quite possibly against those doctors. The problem here is the numbers of years ago you had these particular examinations. BUt because you didn't get notice of your injuries until fairly recentely, you may have medical malpractice suits against those doctors.

But you have an uphill to prove their medical misdiagnosis was the cause of your malady now.

Try attorneypages.com or call your State Bar Association and ask for lawyer. You will be seeking a medical malpractice attorney.
