sister arrested, used my name

California, but arrest of sister was in Las Vegas, Nevada

I haven't seen my sister in over 5 years. I found out she was in Las Vegas. I tried contacting her while I was there for the weekend. Ex-boyfriend said she has been using my name. When I searched my name in the Clark County Public Records, it popped up. It said that I was released on June 9 2004 on O.R. and scheduled for sentencing on 8-11-04. I have lived in California all my life and only go to Las Vegas rarely to gamble-thats all.
My question is, how is it possible for someone else to use my name, get arrested, and released from jail and get away with it? What can I do? I know she has green eyes, dark hair- my eyes are brown and I have light brown hair. She is also 2 years older. How do I get this all cleared up?

This happens allll the time. Thats exactly why they do it- to try to get an O.R before the system snags them up. There will be a new charge for her now. Good thing is, they have her booking photo and fingerprint to show its not you!

You might try calling the agency that arrested her and find out what you can do to clear the matter up to keep a warrant being issued for you! It might only take getting your photo and prints taken at your local (CA) law enforcement agency and them sending the NV agency a copy so they can make the necessary corrections.

If you wait, you may find yourself arrested and in NV trying to clear it up ... and that can be a pain in the tail end, and expensive.
