What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California. After living with severe un-controlled pain as a direct result of the Herpes Zoster Virus that refuses to go away. In April 2011, I will have this condition and Postherpetic Neuralgia for 2 years. After years prior of complaining of dibilitating back pain and after having to fight for it from my insurance company, it was discovered that I have a very serious SPINAL INJURY and severe lower back disc disease and bulging of 2 disks, it was determined that I got the shingles most likely from the severe back problems.

The shingles are so bad, I (most of the time) can't handle being touched even by clothes. I have screamed in agony because I must showing and clean myself. yet, the water hitting my body is indescribable. I have lost 50 lbs. doing nothing. I'm on a walker for lord sake.

Not only did I get turned down. But I also got turned down for everthing except for what I applied for. To add insult to injury, the bottom line of this letter stated that due to my age and work skills, I should have been able to find some sort of work (while blinded by pain, sleep deprived due to pain, & last but not least, I have a contagious disease to anyone that has not had chicken pox.

I am 43 years old. Obviously since I am having trouble sleeping and wearing clothes, I think that they were suggesting that I become a stripper. Oh, did I mention that their own CE classified me as disabled.

Denials happen.

Seek help from a disability lawyer.

If you must pursue self help, there is a procedure to follow for appealing your denial, and your denial letter and the administration web site will have referenced it.

Being snarky or hurt is not is not going to help your claim or yourself when you approach them or a lawyer. It very personal to you, but to Social Security it is an impartial weighing of evidence. That doesn't mean they get it right, but they are not in it to slight you personally and being personally upset is only doing one thing - making you upset. It isn't helping your claim, body or spirits.

Good luck.

I agree. A lawyer expert in disability claims can help you. If you do it by yourself, the claims are based upon the medical evidence provided and how the disability is rated for social security purposes.
Errors happen as well, so put all your documentation in order, and ask questions.
