With so much talk about idenity theft. Does a collection agency or an Attorney, have a right to obtain & keep your Social Security number with out your permission.

They can get that information from the credit bureaus and from any credit application(s) you've signed. Yes, its legal, as long as they don't use it for illegal purposes.

Isn't it illegal to veiw your personal credit application records. Wouldn't this be an invasion of the Privacey Act. Thank you.

Depends on who is doing the 'viewing' and for what purpose.

No. If anything, non-permissable access to your credit history would be a violation of the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act).
