What is the name of your state? WASHINGTON

My son was laid off (with approx. 100 others ) in December and told he would get his last 2-week paycheck in the mail. When it didn't arrive, he called the manager who told him things were being reorganized and it might take 4-8 weeks more. After a few months wait, he went to the WA dept. of Labor & Industries and they told him they couldn't help him, it might be a bankruptcy. The company owe him about $1100.00 ...so now what can he do?

They couldn't help him because it MIGHT be a bankruptcy? Huh?

I suggest your son recontact to WA's DOL and inquire again about his claim. I imagine he's somewhat young, so you might want to be on a phone extension or there with him if he goes in person to understand what they're telling him.

Refusing to process his wage claim because the company might file bankruptcy is absurd. Heck, any company MIGHT file bankruptcy.

If your son still gets the run-around by the State, then contact the federal Department of Labor. Failing to pay someone for work time is a violation of federal wage and hour laws too. 202-693-4650
