What is the name of your state?OH I am going through a divorce after near 10 years of marriage. The attornies are saying that I would have to pay spousal support of near $1,000 a month on top of CS of just over $500 a month. I only gross about $2,200 a month. She works part time making about $700 a month. We have two children, one 6 that is in school all day and another that is 3 that attends pre-school two days a week. Both our mothers babysit for her for free. Couldnt she work more hours? Get an education for a better paying job? Can I stipulate in the divorce that I only pay till the youngest child enters school for a full day so she can increase her working hours?? They are also saying that if she keeps the house I wouldn't have to pay the maintenance, but if she doesn't keep it then I would.

CLR,

The "attorneyS".

Do you live in a small town?

I smell a rotten fish here. There is an unwritten game attorneys play. It is called "winkinnod". The rules are never disscussed.....only implied. This is the way the whole legal system is played. The system is a market too just like anything else. Attorneys have a market they need to protect just like anyone else. Did the attorneyS go to the same law school? Same fraternity?

I would call around to some other law firms? Ask for some free consults. Ask LOTS of questions. Ask questions with LOTS of prejudice.....are you Pro-Father, Democrat, Republican.....etc....everyone has a bias. Try some attorneys outside the jurisdiction area....another County. Put in any attorneys name into a mega search engine (mamma or google) in quotes, ie. "Joe Schmuck" to see what kind of garbage comes up on them. Do the same for judges.
