My husband recently left me after 18 years of marriage for another married woman. I live in Arlington, Texas. His lover is chinese and her husband lives in Taiwan. This came as a shock to me, our children and family and friends. I was a VP for a large data processing co. 7 years ago when there was a layoff. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (agressive-remitting). My husband and I agreed that I would become a housewife due to my health. I received my retirement and paid off bills with part of my retirement and invested the rest. He has never saved anything and really has no retirement to speak of since he was mainly a contractor. I encouraged him to take this prestigous job mainly for the benefits. I feel destroyed. I am 56, he is 60. My Neurologist has written a letter saying I cannot work a full time job due to what stress does to the MS. I am at a loss. He wants a divorce to live his single life. It has put us in financial straits, I will lose my home, and the only insurance I have is through is employment. I am uninsurable due to the ms. What are my alternatives. I cannot collect disability because I have not paid into social security for several years. Can I get some type of life time spousal support? He makes 86,000 a year and is an officer of the company. He will definitely end up making more and possible bonuses. What can I do? Our children live out of state.
