My husband and I have been married 33 years he had an affair and moved in with her a year ago. We are getting ready to divorce. He left me to run our restaurant for a year. At first he said he was giving me everything, and has changed his mind. I told him we would split 50/50 but that I also want spousal support. He says it is not reasonable to split business assets and still expect alimony. I have emphesyma and don't know how long I can work, we have no retirement except ss. I worked while he went to college and graduate school. I have worked as much or more in our business as he has for 20 years. I have high school education he has masters degree. I have seen an attorney and he says will will ask for alimony. My husband doesn't want to hire attorneys to fight it out he wants to try to make agreements on out own then use atorneys. My husband has basically not worked much in the last year, he is mostly playing, he has run up joint debt of 30,000 to do this. He has very good earning potentiial if he goes to work. Is it reasonable to sell business split assets and ask for alimony? We have always lived in Oregon, he has been in Idaho for the last year but has not established residency and still uses this address, we will file in Oregon.
