Illinois: My father has been retired for some time now and receives at least $2500 per month. My mother has never worked but stayed home to raise 6 children. My Father never wanted her to work or do anything for that matter but stay home.

When he got himself deep in debt, he would always tell my mother that she would have to pay the bills. Somehow through scraping and borrowing she would pay whatever bills he said she would have to pay. He recently filed chapter 13 or bankruptcy and now is threatening not to pay the bills and hounding my mother to pay the bills from the $500 she gets per month.

I have told her not to borrow any more money. He has plenty of money to pay the bills and have some left over to throw away if he wants to. He is suppose to be taking care of her. He doesn't give her any money and even when she's sick she has to scrape and borrow money. Does she have any legal rights to the money he receives? Can he be made to supply the proper support for her?
