RESIDED AND EMPLOYED IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA WHEN THIS OCCURRED. WHAT IS THE STATUE OF LIMITATIONS ON MENTAL ABUSE RECEIVED WHILE EMPLOYED? I DEVELOPED SERIOUS MENTAL PROBLEMS AS A RESULT OF THIS. THIS MAY SEEM UNUSUAL. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A LAWSUIT BUT, I DON'T HAVE VERY MUCH MONEY. WOULD I LOOK FOR SOMEONE TO REPRESENT ME ON A CONTIGENCY BASIS? WOULD THIS BE CONSIDERED UNDER EMPLOYMENT LAWSUIT OR WOULD IT PERHAPS COME UNDER A CIVIL SUIT?
WHAT ARE MY CHANCES? THE PEOPLE INVOLVED NO LONGER WORK FOR THE COMPANY BUT, I KNOW THAT IF THEY WERE SUBPEONED TO TESTIFY IT WOULD BE IN MY FAVOR AS PROOF. WOULD I NEED TO GET A LAWYER IN GEORGIA? PLEASE PROVIDE AS MUCH INFORMATION AS YOU CAN. THANKS!

Yes you should consult with a Georgia employment law attorney. Sometimes it is also called labor law. Anyhow, you can find one at attorneypages. Look for one that is located near the city of the former employer. Your injury is probably a labor law matter though it could be a Workers' Compensation claim. Each state is different, and the Georgia attorney can help you. Generally (at least here in CA where I practice) the Statute of Limitations is one year from the date of the injury. If you don't file a suit or a claim with a governmental entity by that time, you lose forever your rights against that defendant for that claim. You should be able to get a consultation with the Georgia attorney over the telephone, and some do the initial consultation for free. Generally employment law cases are handled on a contingency basis by attorneys. However, some attorney/client retainers are modified contigency retainers. In other words, the attorney may require say $1,500 cash up front along with his/her taking a percentage of any recovery or settlement (say 30-40%). Each attorney is different as to what they will accept, so you need to negotiate with them. OK?

It as been over a year. I attempted during that year but did not file anything. Is there any other way?
