Abused husband

Junior Member
What is the name of your state? VA

My wife was recently arrested for assualting me one evening, and served with a 72 hour barring order. (Interestingly, she called the police, but she was the one taken away, and spending a night in jail). She has bipolar issues, and appears to self medicate, and because we are having marriage problems, she drinks while taking her medications, frequently resulting in her acting like a lunatic, and assaulting me.

I have been subpoened to appear in court, but wonder if I do if it would affect her career, and ultimately, the status quo of her supporting me and the girls. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize either her career or the family status quo.

We have 2 children, 6 and 8, and I am the stay at home Dad, while my wife works (she's an attorney). She recently left the home and has admitted to having an affair with a colleague for some time.

What would happen if I did not turn up in Court and what might happen if I do turn up in court?

Overwhelmed abused husband.

Did you read the subpoena? The repercussions for noncompliance should be outlined in black and white.
