Hi again,

Another client of mine has an issue with past taxes owed. He apparently owes about $2000-3000 in back taxes due to some errors he made many years ago. Currently he is on a repayment plan of only $35 a month. Seems like he will never pay it off. Either way, my first question is will he ever be able to get a income tax return or will they take it every year? He filed his taxes on time this year, will he eligble for a stimulus check? Is there any legal way to get this tax problem of his under control?

Thank you once again.

They will keep taking his refund (and the stimulous check this year too) until his debt is paid off. Taking the refunds just pays it off faster than he could do with just the 35.00 a month.

I have never heard a tax professional refer to a tax refund as a "return". This tends to make me believe you are not one.

Ah thank you for that information.

 irsos, I'm not sure why you said that. No I'm not a tax professional. I'm a counselor seeking some very simple basic advice to point my client in the right direction. Thats all.
