I have learned you can file for step parent adoption yourself for cheap. I was wondering about notifying the other parent. I have read that you can send the other parent certified mail. If you send the mail and the other parent doesn't respond then what? If you are suppose to have the mail formally served by service of citation and the sheriff/constable can't serve the other parent; then where to you go from there?
I live in Wichita Falls, Texas. Wichita county.
ANY information would be helpful, thank you.

This is why you need an attorney. To make sure everything is done perfectly so knucklehead can't come back later and contest!

Next step would be publication in a newspaper of the individuals last known whereabouts.
