"THE LANDLORD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING RENTAL PROPERTY AND COMPLYING WITH LOCAL HOUSING CODES"
(I am not american so I am not really familiar with the american law.) What does that really mean? where can I find the LOCAL HOUSING CODES ?
We moved in almost 2 years ago and the hardwood floor of the dinning room keep getting worse.
We can see the ligth from the basement between hole in the floor. Some nails are coming out of the floor.
The last time my landlord came and saw that, he took a hamer and hamer down those nails... One nail would not go throught the wood so he removed it. So now, this piece of wood has just one nail to keep it in place and I have to say that I fear that one day we will go thru the floor.
My landlord keep telling me that he won't make the repair during our lease (he waits for us to leave to make the repairs) and that we'd better buy a carpet. I don't want a carpet: my son is 2 years old and learn to eat, it gets really messy some time.
Also We have a water leek that keep coming every 3-4 months. I suppose I can not legally complain about that since, he send me every time someone to fix it but during those 2 years, we spent a good six months with water leek in the bathroom and the ceiling open...
There are also a lot of point that need to be taking care of but every time he says yes-yes but he does not do anything (2 windows can not be opened, the door in the basement can not be closed, a window in the basement is broken my husband put a cardboard.....)
Is my only solution to wait for the end of my lease to leave?

Thanks

Yes, unless the landlord stops trying to fix things.

It is not like is willing to fix the hardwood floor. He told me that he would not fix it, even if he agrees it seems dangerous....
Thanks

Kitty, you MUST start to document everything IN WRITING. Put your issues in writing to your landlord. It sounds like you have some valid concerns, but if you don't put them in writing, it'll be your word against theirs.

WRITING WRITING WRITING. Then if nothing is done, then you have documentation that these issues have been addressed!
