The motorized bicycle movement...

I'm a member of "motored bikes" and we're trying to compile a list of each state's stance on motorized bicycles.

We're almost done, and when we are... I'd like to see if you guys could possibly help verify some of the information we've gathered, and possibly fill in a couple holes.

We're also really in need of ideas to actually change the MB laws in places that aren't MB-friendly. For example, Mississippi simply has a vague definition of a motorcycle as a 2-wheeled vehicle with a motor... but an MB isn't a motorcycle, and the majority of other states actually define a MB as something different, usually not requiring tag, registration, insurance, etc. The best idea we have of getting our voices heard is to email, call, & write every congressman of a state that isn't MB-friendly. Is there somebody else you would recommend talking to, or some other way that would make our job easier?? Any special connections to make this happen quicker, or even just make this happen would be greatly appreciated.

I should have the list of states and what we've been able to come up with in a day or so.

Don't bother.

This isn't a "legal" issue, it's a political one. What you need to do is to figure out what needs to be changed in each state and get some members in those states to petition their legislature for a change in the law. You 'll need to spend some time researching the impact (who it affects), the benefits to society of changing the law, and the potential impacts of the changed law. Gather some constituents in that state with the proposal and send them to bang on their elected officials offices.
