What is the name of your state? California
About 8 months ago I discovered this site. Since, I am happy to report that I have successfully gotton 2 tradelines removed from my credit report and both were from Asset Acceptance!!!!! Talk about David versus Goliath! One was for an $8,500 credit card and the other was for an alleged phone bill. It took time but I could not have done it without the brilliant minds that take the time to log into this site to help others. To that end, I say thank you. Those that come to mind first hand are Debtguy and Ladynred. I"m sure there were others in the threads....
At any rate, based on my experience all I can say is VALIDATION, VALIDATION, VALIDATION. Then follow-up, follow-up, follow-up. Although it was not necessarily easy to do this, persistance paid off! It even reached a point where they sent local attorneys after me. I stood up to them too by providing them with documentation that proved that Asset was at fault by not VALIDATING the alleged debts. I did the "one-two punch" and the whole nine yards so I had plenty of paperwork. They provided me with bogus "statements" by which I threw down the gauntlet and sent a final letter explaining that "this is my last communication attempt to remove this debt before I rigorously exercise my legal options." Long story short.....the next thing I know is I'm getting a letter from the local attorney basically apologizing for the confusion, etc. and that they have advised their client (Asset) to close the account (for the credit card) and that they will not sell this debt to a 3rd party vendor. The old phone bill was even easier but took the same amount of time. They didn't send an attorney after me for the phone bill.
I'm rambling**************.... But I'm here to tell you that this stuff works!!!
Thanks again,
