I am currently a J1 visa holder (throught the Council on International Educational Exchange Program), I do not have 2 year residency restriction, and my visa runs out for working on 31 of Dec. 2000, I have 30 days of 'holiday ' time after that (i think because my form says DS instead of date).

I would like to remain in the US with my fiancee who is a green card holder. HOwever, we do not know how long it would take for me to get a green card after we marry? We do not have a date yet. Also, while waiting for the green card what would my visa status be?

I am a UK citizen
(i am in Pa at the moment but we hope to move to San Francisco after january)
Thank you.

You need to check this.. but I do not think that marrying a green card holder will enable you to stay and work in the US. They would have to be a US citizen for that.
