What is the name of your state? New York

My Chapter 7 case was discharged October 5, 2003.

I contacted my mortgage company today and they notified me that my case was not "closed" yet?

Could anyone explain what this means?

I have several positive tradelines on my credit report and I am concerned that this issue will cause them to not report on-time payments...

Any information is greatly appreciated.

The Trustee in your case has to file a final report officially closing your case. I would suggest you call the Trustee and find out what's up. If your BK court has either a voice system or on-line case access, you could check there and see what's actually been filed - or not regarding the official closure of your case.

Follow-Up

I contacted my attorney. As you suggested, there was a number to call to get this information.
The case was closed on 10-31-2003.
My mortgage company says that they were never notified of this information.

Needless to say, they are now. :)

LadyNRed, thank you so much for your help.

I will be pulling all 3 credit reports this week to start correcting any errors like this one.

*I contacted the NYS AG concerning the collection agency that was trying to collect on a discharged debt, they called me last week. I will keep you and bigun updated concerning how it was handled by that office.
