Time Frame to Claim Belongings

My fiance moved out of my apartment in April, 2000. I am wondering how long he has to claim items that he has left there. Ie... vacuum cleaner, etc. Any advice you can provide would be extremely useful. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to this.

Send him one certified letter informing him if the items he left behind. State that he has 2 weeks to claim them or they will be lost. If he fails to repond, lose them.

Thank you LegalBeagle for your response. I've spoken to him a few times on the phone telling him that his stuff is there, but he fails to do anything on it. He is so cruel and heartless that I have thought about getting a restraining order. I am truly afraid of this person. I don't want him anywhere near me. What are the qualifications for obtaining a restraining order? Thank you again for your help.

You need to have something descriptive to tell a judge that he has in some way harmed you.. Just saying you are afraid of him may not get you far. Unfortunately, many people are hurt waiting for that 'first time' something happens before you can do anything.
