Is there a time limit in which I can file a civil suit against my former employer?

**A: yes, it is called the statue of limitations.

And the statute of limitations will vary considerably depending on what type of civil claim you're bringing and whether the violation is State or federal.

Re: Statute of Limitations

I understand there is a Statute of Limitations - what I meant was how long is it (California) and it would be discrimination - but at this point my only option left is civil - so that is what I was not sure of.

Thanks

Have you filed a complaint with either the EEOC or DFEH and received a right to sue letter from them? If not, you cannot file a discrimination lawsuit of any kind at all.
