On Nov 11 I posted a question regarding what I can do about my boyfriends Dr's. Remember this?
I'll make this as short as possible. My boyfriend was diagnosed with a rare and agressive form of cancer. Six months go by of chemotherapy and they say he can have surgery to remove it. Surgery happens in early September, the surgeon removes all of the tumor but there is a 'positive margin' (microscopic leftovers). Plan is to regain continence and radiation treatment, and the oncologist recommends seeing a hemotology oncologist that specializes in a certain blood 'transplant'. Patient opted for the radiation. <6 weeks post-op he is begining to have some abdominal pain and has a CT scan scheduled. Called. Dr. says that's pretty normal. CT comes and goes...pain is getting worse. Now it keeps him up at night. Called again. Now 2 weeks after the CT Oncologist reads it and the tumor IS BACK!! What's with the delay? This is his life that they are playing games with! The tumor shows in the CT as being 7-8 cm (2.5 cm per inch). So what can we do about it if anything. Any performance reprimands?? I'm not looking for the $$. I AM however seeking that the hospitals and and Dr's involved get some kind of kick in the teeth!

Ok, well, he is back in the hospital (Dec 28, 2000) with some severe edema (swelling) of the left leg. In the Nov hospital stay he had stints inserted into the ureters to keep the tumor from crushing them. They collapse (DEC visit) and the kidneys are so swollen he is begining to have total failure, urologist says, replace them with stiffer ones. OK, helped a little. Then they say he has a large intestine blockage, Colostomy done. Gas escaping but very little stool. Morphine is up to 12mg per hour for pain. Kidneys not getting better. Dr's talk about nephrostomies. Tubes inserted thru the back into the kidney and drained that way. Dr's don't want to do the surgery, suggest hospice instead. Family says do it so they do. Things are improving. Now they say the blockage they thought was in the large intestine is in the small intestine instead. Colostomy is painful and useless... Dr's say they don't want to do anything anymore... and are insisting Hospice... What now? do they have to do as we ask? JUST TRY TO SAVE HIM!!!!

They won't answer you if you have more than a 5 line question. I tried. Apparently lawyers have a very short attention span.

The only response I got to my original question was a complaint that it was too long.

I think IAAL made my point eactly when he quickly and defensively replied to my very short post which said that lawyers must have a short attention span.

I know about the length thing... But it is always worth a shot. My original post was quite lengthy and they DID reply!
They didn't have a whole lot of answers but they did take the time to read it.

It's not that their attention span is short, it's the qty of questions that they are bombarded with on a DAILY BASIS! These guys (and gals) answer our questions for free. I don't demand an answer... I appreciate your answers though.
