Yesterday was not fun!
To start out , i need a motor for my truck , so i bought a "parts truck" on ebay for 1000$ . An f-250 ext.cab with 7.3L and e40d 4x4 with about 100K on it . Sounds like a real good running engine .
Anyway i called all over for a trailor to rent , wich to my surprise no uhaul had anything for it in my area . One place suggest this rental company so i called and reserved one they said would work .
Now i have a apointment to pick this truck up , so i goto the rental to pick the trailor up the night before i leave.....and the trailor is at least 2 feet to short!!!
I explained excatly where i was going (300miles one way)and what i needed to tow . So he tells me this car dolly would work . I dint like the idea but it was 5:30 and every other place was closing so i had to take it.....i had to leave in the morning .
I get there and pull the truck onto the dolly and one tire ad a nail in it and was flat!! It was not noticable before since there was no weight on it when i picked it up . Luckly the seller had a plug(im in the boonies!!) . But i notice the one tire is slightly tilted in because of the weight . Im not sure if it had a bad bearing or if it was just too much .
Seeing as we had a 300mile trip hom dad says no way....were not taking it on this .
Luckly i dint because halfway home the tire on the dolly blows out!!!Not the pluged 1 , the other one . I think the Wheel well covering the tire was rubbing on the tire , or it might have somthing to do with the possable bearing problem?
So i left it at a truck stop , called the rental place , they wanted me to pay someone to come and put a tire on it!! I was like wtf....first they rent me somthing i cant use , then they want me to fix the pos.Later he calls and says he'll split the cost . I say no and leave it at the truckstop .
Then im coming home through a blizzard and he calls me and say fix it and theyll pay me back....im already 3 hours away from where i left it now . I said no . Wierd thing is this kid is calling me from his home phone now , why would he call me on his own time??He probally works an 8hr day making 8$/hr . Just makes me think theres more than i see to this . Maybe theyve been scamming and dont want to get caught or somthing . Speculation...anyway
So he calls me this moprning and i confirm for the third time where it is . So there going to pick it up i guess . I still have thier tire straps and whell well wich fell off as the tire blew . Wich i said id drop off , but im unsure what to do now .
I got charged 400$ deposit , and 65$ for the rental . Im sure there gonna try and rape me now , but there not really telling me what they want to do . The paper i signed when i took it pretty much signs my life away as is expect when going to a rental .
I think my arguement is pretty legit . They rented me somthing they said would do the job , and it dint .Called my credit card company preparing for a dispute , but they said as of now the charges are just pending , i have to wait to dispute , probally 5-7 days .
Now i have to pay someone probally 700$ to tow this home for me because this guy wants the truck out . Im tempted to look into small claims and treatin them to reinbure me for this . But thats a streach i realize .
Anyone ever have a simliar situation ? Any advise would be great thx!
