What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania

This happened last night on Saint Patrick's day. I was driving home from a friend's house. We were drinking and playing board games. Nothing crazy. I waited 2 hours before going home just in case I was over the limit. I felt fine and left and then got pulled over. I was NOT given a DUI, but I was told I'll get a couple of tickets in the mail. I ran a stop sign (2:30am and nobody was around so I rolled through it instead of stopping completely like probably most people would do) and also was speeding for a very short time. It was a new area to me and I was turning onto a main road. Turned right at a traffic light, sped up to 40, saw the 25 mph speed limit sign and immediately started to slow down to about 33 or so. I was only driving for about 2 to 3 minutes total before getting pulled over. I was given a breathalyzer test and it read .085 (.08 legal limit in PA) so they let me go if a friend came to pick me up, which they did. The cops seemed understanding and even told me basically everyone was getting pulled over that night. He said that I'll get a couple of tickets (pretty vague...) probably for running the stop sign and careless driving. He even said himself that if I go to the court date I may be able to knock down my tickets a bit. Would it be worth getting a lawyer, just showing up to court myself, or just paying the tickets? I don't know which tickets I'll get yet, but I imagine 3 likely possibilities.

Run stop sign + reckless driving
Run stop sign + speeding
Run stop sign + speeding + reckless driving

Would any of those scenarios be worth hiring a lawyer for or should I just pay the tickets? If yes to lawyer, should I to go to court with him or let him handle it? If I go to the court myself and am asked if I was drinking or took a breathalyzer test should I tell them I blew a .085? Sorry for being completely clueless here. Thanks for your help.

If the facts are such that you were speeding and did run a stop sign, I don't know how an attorney can help much. It is pretty easy to prove all the factors with the testimony of the officer. Reckless driving is a bit harder as it requires proving you acted in willful or wanton disregard for others' safety. Mental state is something attorney's are good at defending.

Because reckless driving may result in a 6 month suspension of your license, I would fight it if charged. The others might depend on how many points you already have on your record.

The cops let you off at .085? My esteem of the PA police procedures just went down a few notches

They may have "released" him, but that doesn't mean that DUI charges aren't coming. Sometimes, they'll drag you before the duty magistrate and charge you right then, and sometimes, they'll get the papers to the local magistrate during normal hours.
