We filed a pettion today for temorary guardianship of my 5 month old niece, my nephew, the babies father is hiding from the police in TN. The mother, all of 16 and my nephew left the baby at our house 6 weeks ago. Well, they called and are on there way from TN to "get the baby" Dear God someone help us. Do we have to let them take her? They have no staedy jobs, the past two weeks they have been livibg in a step-father's trailor in TN hiding from police. Does the order we filed keep them from getting her tonight? We know that they can contest the gaurdianship and that it will go to court, but can they take this precious baby away tonight? Please help us.

Who is the legal guardian of the 16 year old???

I don't know her legal guardian. She has a mom that is living, but drug addict. The man who is bringing her down is supposedly her step-dad. She and my nephew have no license car, nothing. I don't know if this man is really the step-dad. I just don't know.

If they are wanted by the police couldn't you call the police and tell them?

Her mom's wherabouts is not known to us either. I don't know about biological father.

Mrs. brown, My nephew is wanted for probation violation, the girl's court date is in April so she has not missed it yet. Our fear is they will take the baby, do what they do, smoke pot, let her get hurt. She is a precious baby. If theu want to come se her we don't mind. We just want her safe and healthy which is with us. Thanks.

I hope you filed your petition for temporary custody as an emergency petition.
Perhaps it would be wise if you were not home for a few days.

When they left the child with you did you go to court and petition for custody or guardianship? Have you done that today?

Then I would make something up and quick........If you have to call the police and have them arrest the nephew.........do it........And then immediately file for protective custody...............
