What is the name of your state? Massachusetts

Ok, I was thinking about opening a site to stream tv shows free (like CSI, Spongebob, ect) shows that I have bought on dvd and stuff like that.

Now I want to start a site where only people who own the copyrighted dvd or have cable with that show, can watch the show, Would this pass? I mean, I know I can't just let everyone watch the shows, But my site would be more of a backup site. Can anyone help me with laws on this?

I want it as a site where people can watch a show they missed or if they missed the last 10 minutes of it, Get it?

If I would have to get licences to do this, How would I get them? who would I contact?,

Thank you for reading,

Its not going to happen

Expect to have your ISp get a DCMA takedown notice within a few days off going live and then getting your site turned off.

DVDs have strict 'not for rebroadcast' clauses. No studio will sell you a license for this - they want to make money selling DVDs and Cable rights. And nobody os going to believe that people are tuing into your site to watch a poor quality compressed version of a DVD that they own and have sitting in their living room.

Not worrying about the legal aspect, the cost of transmitting that much data would be prohibitively expensive. Depending on your internet connection, it could take hours to upload each show. The server space required would cost a fortune. And if doing something like this could be done in a profitable or cost effective manner, the owners of the material would already be doing it.
