What is the name of your state? IL

started in a union shop in may 2004 with 90 day prob. i was hired at one company which is a subsidiary(correct term?) of another. same owners, same building. i was told i would get apprentice mechanic wage(13.36)
got only 10 and questioned this with union members since there was no steward in place yet. the business agent did say that they should be paying 13.36. it never happened and then the company surprised me with a new classification,"battery tech" 2 months after my hiring. the pay scale is about 5% under apprentice wages. they said they had agreed in principle with the union about this. ok as far as i know, i could be wrong, but agreeing in principle doesn't make it binding. so now i am being paid off that scale which 5 months later still is not part of the contract.

the union business agent finally made an appearance 3 weeks ago to discuss this with me and management and he said that my company does not fall under the contract and they are trying to figure it out so that we will. well if this is the case why was i forced to pay the union?? it's like i am stuck in no man's land. the company is paying me whatever they want yet the union still takes my money.

under the contract it states that battery repair is part of the contract, which is what i do. so i guess the real question is does this contract apply to me? if yes then am i being under paid since there is technically no defined terms in the contract. and if no, then am i owed money by the union?? i know for certain i have been lied to by both the company and the union. and this has just been going on way too long.
