What is the name of your state? Communist Republic of Washington (seattle)

I recently joined a union job through the County Sheriff's Office. I moved here from Los Angeles for the job and upon moving, I noticed a surge of 'junk mail'. The kind of mail that teaches you how to corner the real estate market through hypnosis, and how to make money by sending people mail that tells people how to make money. I verified with the Union Rep that they do sell all our information in 'brokered deals'.

The question I have is this: Is this legal? The Sheriff's Office policy is to keep this my personal information in the strictest confidentiality, considering I may be required to testify against individuals who would like to seek retaliation.

What must I do to ensure that this practice stops?

thanks in advance

First click here:

http://www.obviously.com/junkmail/

Then write your union and tell them you do not wish to be on any mailing lists that they disseminate.

Also, ask to see a copy of your Union's constitution and/or your Local's by-laws to see if there is language in those documents that addresses this issue.
