All the OP's post shows is that he or she is self-absorbed. Why would someone be so interested in the OP that they would spend even a second giving her or him a "dirty" look?

I suspect the OP is bothered by his or her appearance and therefore assumes others are. That has become an excuse to feel "harassed" and looked down upon.

I'd suggest going to the Student Health Center and asking for a Psych evaluation. Anyone who thinks that everyone is against them is showing signs of paranoia.

Well, I can't say that I didn't expect the usual slew of grossly misinformed, biased, ignorant, and quite frankly completely retarded replies from your average message board audience. So I will take the bait and give up credibility so I can have some fun responding to this batch of retards. Enjoy my replies, it's probably the only intelligent conversation you have seen all week.

Nice, I bet you suggest this to anyone who you don't agree with. You're the same nutcase that
would get their kids head meds when they complain of a bruised elbow or get a bad grade.

Not really, I assume it because I can plainly see them doing it in front of me, moron.

Have you considered that it may be your hygiene? Americans generally
bathe far more often than Europeans. It can be immediately noticeable
among those who bathe daily (or even several times a day) and could explain the treatment.

No, these are long distance stares. Smell - although I have perfectly good hygiene - would not easily travel across a room.
On a sidenote, nice stereotyping of Europeans.

Let's also not completely ignore the possibility that this is imagined.

You seem to believe that others are going out of their way to shun you... when it just may be innocent action.

YOU, as the accuser, will have to prove it.

I'm not posting a video just for a pathetic message board full of wannabe down syndrome lawyers. Sorry bud.

I've gotta ask... Just what does the "average" Tennessean look like, as compared to you?? White Europeans don't really look that different than white Americans.

That is a good question. Although the obvious characteristic such as skin color and height are common between the two,
other features such as head shape, hair growth patterns, and nose/eyes/mouth/ears/etc... features may be different. This would lead
to distinctive appearances easily standing out to locals who are accustomed to a standard, familiar set of features.

Perhaps you need to look at your own behaviors for a clue as to why you're being avoided.

That is a bad question, go F yourself.

I am personally friends with many MANY people of european descent and I cant even BEGIN to tell you how incorrect you are in this assumption. I can also say that this statement is absolutely and unequivocally one of THE most ridiculous things ive ever read!

Op, put the tin hat down and back away slowly...

How is it not correct? Do you look like a Croat or a Polish man?

I have to ask.

How many peircings and tattoos do you have? Any on your face? Do you have any abnormal growths?

I am a Tennessean and have taught in colleges and universities. I find it hard to believe that there are several of your instructors who are treating you this way. Maybe one, maybe one or two, but to find that this treating you with disrespect based on your nationality is a general thing seems amazing. If your behavior and hygiene are appropriate, then it must be some real different deal that I haven't been initiated into yet, that all us college teachers are supposed to hate all....Croatians, Serbians, Yeminites, Jordanians, whatever. And like most white males in this country, you would certainly have a hard time pursuing a case of discrimination. Though discussing it with someone in the administrative area at a university is probably the place where you will receive more sympathy than anywhere else. Don't look for it in the workplace, for certain!

Well since you asked, i'm actually of Swedish descent and I can assure you I look just like everyone else in America. I also have a good friend who's entire family is directly from Poland and they look just like everyone else in America. Have a good friend who is from Russia and he looks just like everyone else in America. Have several German friends (directly from Germany) and they look just like everyone else in America....

Should I continue or are you getting the point??

Dear OP, I completely feel your pain.

I too am European and even though I have lived in the United States Of America for Many Many Years now, people can tell that I am NOT native-born very easily!!!!!

Every time I open my mouth and speak.

I have none of those, but I do have more "prominent" eyebrows, which may perhaps draw attention. That's why I said I had some European features that are different from your average Tennessean.

My problem is with harassing looks, definitely not speech.

Is it possible they may be making a point to NOT look at you in a misguided atrempt to not make you feel uncomfortable?

I know when i see a white american male wearing off the arse jeans, wearing more jewelry than queen elizabeth owns, and speaking ebonics, i have a tedency to make a point of not looking directly at them.

Either that, or your name is Russell Brand

:eek:OMG ~ I never bloody knew you weren't from the good ole US of A.

Dang, it's colebeer time.:D

I wasn't born in the US of A either.

Straight European descent on both sides. (The OP does realize that Europe includes Great Britain, France, Scandinavia, etc., right? That not all Europeans look alike either? That a native of Sweden and a native of Southern Italy would most likely have totally different genetic traits and yet they would both be European?)

Anyway, you can't tell from looking at me that I wasn't born here. The OP is painting with WAY too broad a brush.
