What is the name of your state? new mexico
4 days before closing our buyer has informed us that she wants us to split the cost of an upgrade to our house. it was inspected, and the upgrade has nothing to do with a safety issue. our outside breaker box is 100 amp, and inside is 70 amp. she wants the inside box switched to 100 amps. the inspection did not say this was necessary from a safety standpoint, nor is the lender asking us to fix it. the only reason the buyer wants it done is to get the cheapest house insurance. all insurers we called would insure the house with it as is, except her military insurance company. her military insurer is much cheaper. do we have any recourse? if we close any later, we will have to pay another month of mortgage.
help!!

**A: I presume you are talking about the subpanel rating at 70 amps.
Offer to split the cost and close.

Your buyer is trying to negotiate a done deal. In the interest of expediency, though, it might be a good thing to split the costs. Up to you.

All depends on the type of person you are. Do you like being walked on? Buy her a couch too. Convenient that there's only four days until closing, don't ya think?
