Remember, the MINOR children will benefit from SS if their father is deceased throughout their minor years.
That is assuming that the father worked. In the case of this poster, it had been YEARS that he had NOT worked; nor is he currently working.

What you say about life insurance is normally true. In the case of the poster, the STBX is not insurable. With little likelyhood of any benefits, the life insurance until they are grown is appropriate.

No, I'm not. I have bought life insurance on my hubby both through my work's group plan and an individual policy as well. There was NO requirement that he be working for either policy.

My dad bought life insurance on my mom, and she hadn't worked in years either.

Remember, the MINOR children will benefit from monthly SS if their father is deceased.
You can only get social security benefits if you worked enough quarters to get credit. I wasn't talking about NOT being able to get insurance if you aren't working. The STBX had a liver transplant. He is NOT insurable at this time.

Sorry, but that crap won't fly. You think he is stupid!!! You women have taught us well!!!

Actually yeah, I DO think he is. He passed up a SWEET deal that was offered to him... one that would have netted him FAR MORE cash in the long run and set him up with a place to live free and clear. He was more interested in causing short term damage to TuffBrk than he was in actually making long term improvements to his life. Not exactly rocket science.

And yeah... he just had a transplant. My SDad is on the transplant list awaiting HIS new liver for the SAME ISSUE that TB's (now)Ex has. I would guess, since he HAS the new liver, he's capable of at least what my SDad is... which is quite a bit.

Bali...you are so wishy washy its incredible. You tell people in strong positions that they will get screwed. You tell people in weak positions that they will win. You don't grasp the basics of property division because it offends your sense of right and wrong....but you won't support a woman who is exactly in your shoes.

Why are you even here? Obviously you aren't here to help people, so what is your motivation?

I'm glad you asked me that.

Fifty years ago divorce was discouraged by society and government, and not encouraged like it is today. Thank the libbers, they got their way.

Fifty years ago if a woman left a marriage, she got NOTHING. Not today, it's ok to be irresponsible and walk away with "allthemoney" (thanks fair):) Thank the libbers, they got their way.

Marriage was the backbone of America and today divorces are as common as going grocery shopping thanks to the libbers and they still want to be paid for irresponsibility!!

One thing that the libbers didn't get was "only a woman should receive alimony".

What goes around comes around and I'm here to enjoy every minute of it!!

I'm very surprised that you would advise someone to do something that could cause personal injury. I see you have been here awhile and you should know better than that.

If you don't like or agree with my post, I invite you to comment, but please don't advise me to cause personal injury to myself.

I think you're upset that my post indicates that most people here think it's ok to wreck a man's life. That those same people get upset when the system that they created wrecks a woman's life. So just say so.

Oh, Bali, if you bonk your head you know one of us will kiss it and make it better.;)

I don't think anyone here (well, not on a regular basis anyway) thinks that it is okay to ruin anyone's life, be it man or woman. We also don't think it is okay for children to go without, for dogs to sleep outside in the snow, or a myriad of other things.

Most of us don't believe in allthemoney, except in extreme cases. The system is biased towards women in that regard, none of us will contest that.

You obviously got a raw deal, that sucks. I got a rotten deal too, completely different than yours of course, but it certainly doesn't make me think that every man on earth is out to beget children for whom they will accept no responsibility. I am not on a crusade to deball every man on earth because of it. So stop kicking every woman you see. Presenting the other viewpoint, good. Making it the standard of every situation, bad.

Tuffbrk is getting the same rotten treatment that you claim to despise, from a lazy irresponsible spouse who wants someone else to take care of them. Can't you see past the fact that the woman/man roles are reversed and address the situation in the SAME way you would normally?

FTR, I've had many dogs who LOVED to sleep outside in the snow, and who would in fact completely refuse to come INSIDE in order to sleep by the fire when there was snow to be slept in.

So... sometimes... I think it's ok. :p

Alright fair, I get the message and you're right. I'll try to keep more of an open mind when giving my advice on their situation that I really can only draw from my own personal expierence.

You are the only one who makes sense to me most of the time. Thank you for your comments.

I just bonked my head below my nose and above my chin**************???????

Well, I can't vouch for the intelligence of the German Shepard or the terrier... or the Chow... or the Lab... or CurrentDog - whatever HE is.

The greyhound though... she was smart. As soon as it started looking like it might get cold sometime w/in the next week, she was snuggled up in her crate waiting for spring.
