I am cosigning a furniture loan now with a friend. I am also in the process of filing for bk next month. Will this have any affect on my bk? Should I or should't I cosign at this time?.Please reply urgent. thanks.

I have not consulted with him yet. A friend of mine wants to apply for the loan today and I have given him my infor but forgot to tell him that I was going to file. Please help! Thanks.

Are you looking to get yourself accused of bankruptcy fraud ?? Do you understand that this loan you intend to co-sign for MUST be included in your bankruptcy ?? Do you understand that if you do so, the creditor is likely to challenge the discharge of that debt and could get you accused of fraud ??? If you are accused of fraud, your case could be thrown own. At the very LEAST, the debt would be deemed non-dischargable and you would be on the hook for it !

Suggest you tell your friend to find another co-signer.

I suggest you consult him, he is the one who know's your case. This will be subject to question however, since you are in proceedings. Not a good idea, and most likely will effect your friends credit if your credit is even accepted at this point.

Thank you both for replying to my urgent questions. As soon as I read your responses, I called my friend and told him to not include me on his loan as a cosigner. I told him the whole situation and he understood it.
Phew!!!!. I was going to screw up my case.
