Hello i live in Pennsylvania :D I bought a used truck from a used car dealership. It was an "as is" purchase. I am aware that when i drive it off the lot they no longer assume any responsibility. Not 2 weeks later the transmission went on it. Initally the guy told me if it breaks within 30 days to bring it back and they would fix it with me only paying the labor. Well i gave them the truck to fix. After myself calling every other day for the 3 1/2 weeks they had the truck telling me each time that they still had not found a transmission. (apparently it is a mazda trans in a ford truck and they are rare). Finally (after the 3 1/2 weeks) they told me that they could not find a transmission and that i could pick another vehicle. No other vehicle was runable or acceptable. I informed them that i did not want the vehicle anymore. They will not give me any money back toward my purchace. I payed out 970 dollars and only had the car 10 days. Is there any way to get at least a portion of it back??? They want me to hand over the registration and sign the title back over to them with no compensation....should i?

The problem is that you bought the vehicle as-is. Like you said, they no longer owe you anything as soon as you drove off the lot. You can try to take them to small calims court and see what the judge says about the matter, other than that, it is an expensive lesson to learn to always get everything in writing, it is the only way you can prove things in court.

Good luck to you.
