After reading the following page on the IRS website, am I safe to assume that I don't have to file for taxes since my gross income was $3500 (shown on my W2) last year?

That's true, but if you are between 25 and 64 you should file for your earned income credit. You should also file if you had any income tax withheld.

Why should I file if I had any income tax withheld? My employer DID withheld Fedral, FICA, and Medicare taxes.
