What is the name of your state? Texas

Something has been going around in the Highschool (which I graduated from last year) and I feel as if this is a BIG violation of privacy... I was wondering if anyone on here could help me by telling me how this if at all violates it. As I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of the website (www.myspace.com), well it seems the Highschool and even the Junior high are using it against the students to choose whether a student should be on the sports team or not. What is happening is the students who set their profile as "private" which meaning you can't look at it unless you are their friend, they are making that student come down to the office and forcing them to give them the password to their account so that the office may look at the page and see if they find anything inappropriate....Now I can understand if the person had not set the profile to private that the office can look at their profile because it IS open to the public..But can they really force a student to hand over their password and username to look at the page to be a judge on whether they can be on a sports team or not? I feel its too much of a violation of privacy and I am really thinking of taking this further to stopping this. Any advice will be appreciated.

If they use the school computer(s) to access the information in their 'private' accounts, then yes, they can force the issue. If the students never access these accounts utilizing school resources, then it's questionable at best.
