My mother-in-law is 82 years old, and had taken vioxx for four years. She suffered from three mild strokes, and is at a very high risk for having a heart attack. The only real perminant damage is double vision, and not being able to keep her balance when standing. Is this enough damage for her to need to retain an attorney? Anyone?

Vioxx Recall Information

Merck & Co. has removed its blockbuster arthritis drug Vioxxfrom the market worldwide because new data from a clinical trial found an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Merck decided to remove the drug from the market after data from the trial showed an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, blood clots and other cardiovascular complications.

You should seek the advice of an attorney, but be forewarned old age is a risk of heart attack, stroke, blood clots and other cardiovascular complications. Your claim has holes that the defense will attack.

Vioxx information pamphlet

I was reading an old copy of Better Homes and Gardens from 2002 and inside was the little pamphlet that is sent out given out with alot of medication. If you read the pamphlet, you will discover that both stroke and heart problems are listed as possible side effects of this drug. You may find it is not as easy to get a judgement from Merck as it may seem if a jury decides the case (Jury's are a strange bunch). There are class-action law-suits out there right now against Merck concerning Vioxx. You may look into one of them.
But, be ware of the crazy juries. They may read the insert and end up siding with the drug manufacturer on this one.

What if someone is younger, I would assume that the likelyness of a lawsuit is probably higher?
